Joseph and Julia Neville were called on a mission to New Zealand about 1965. They went on two missions and the second one was to Austrailia. These pictures were taken in New Zealand. The top one Pipaiwai New Zealand. Grandma told a story about having Christmas there. They were proud of their missions and often told stories about their experiences.
Grandpa was an adventerous soul and would drag Grandma here and there. She was a city slicker from Salt Lake City, and she lived in Eureka, Escalante. Some of her grandchildren thought she was an actual pioneer because of her experiences. Grandpa took her on an around the world trip, and although she said she feared many of her experiences, she probably wouldn't have traded them in for anything. It made her who she was.
Joseph was willing to go anywhere and do anything. He dedicated his life to the Church, and his testimony was strong. He often said that he and grandma sat down when they were first married and said, that either we are Mormon all the way or not at all. They were Mormon all the way and passed on their faith to their children and grandchildren and their posterity.

Julia Anne Neville was Julia and Joseph Neville's first daughter. She was named after her mother. She married Robert Carl Gustaveson and had five children. Jan, Christy, Barbara, Susan and Carl. She is known by Anne, to help avoid the confusion of two Julias. Anne remembers when they lived in Escalante while her father, Joseph William Neville Junior, was in charge of the CCC Camps. During the winter they lived in the town and in the summer they lived up in the mountians near Posey Lake. Her father was helping put the road in from Escalante to Boulder. She remembers going over "Hell's Backbone" in the back of their pick up truck and pulling a tarp over her head so it would not seem so frightening. She also remembers living in a tent and living life like she was camping. As a child she remembers it being a lot of fun.
Nancy Jane Neville was the baby of the family. She married Drew Arthur Van Wagoner and had five children. Ann Marie, Jeff, Jon, Carol and Kurt. Nancy met her husband at her brothers, Bruce and Bob's missionary farewell. Drew Van Wagoner was on the program and did a musical number. She was still a teenager when she first saw him. As he was singing, she said to herself, I'm going to marry him, and she did.

Julia Taylor Neville and her first baby, Joseph Taylor Neville. Grandma told us how much she enjoyed being a mother and what a good baby Joe was. She was a young mother living in Eureka, a mining town. The woman that rented their room to them wanted to make sure that she was a clean girl before she could use the bath.
Joseph Taylor Neville was the fourth in a line of five Joseph Neville's, starting with Joseph Hyrum Neville, Joseph William Neville Senior, Joseph William Neville Junior, then Joseph Taylor Neville, and then his son Joseph Morgan Neville, his son.
Joseph Taylor Neville married Evelyn Morgan. They had four children. Joseph, Valerie, Jared and David.
Joe was the oldest of the children. He went by Joe and so did his father. When he was young they would call him "Little Joe" and his father "Big Joe." Eventually Joe became taller than his father and the choice became "Old Joe", and "Young Joe." Grandpa didn't like that so you never heard it, just the story about it.
Joe went on to graduate school in accounting. He has a sucessful career with the IRS and lived in the Washington D.C. area. He retired from the IRS and had other sucessful careers in finance.
Bruce and Bob Neville---------------Your guess is as good as mine as to who is who?Anyone know? I guess with identical twins there would be some confusion on who is who. Funny thing now is that it easy for us to tell who each one is. When we were young you would be able to pick out which one was which by looking for the corresponding aunt. That trick didn't always work.
Bruce Taylor Neville married Beth Ann Hill and they had seven children. Roark, Jeanne, Jayne, Brett, Stacey, Shelley, and Ann. Bruce was in the Airforce and went to medical school. He has been a sucessful doctor in Davis County, Utah.
Robert Taylor Neville married Maxine Burton and they had five children. Scott, Julie, Chris, Suzanne and David Kent. Bob was also in the Airforce. He went on to Law School and became a sucessful lawyer in Arizona.
Bruce and Bob were called on the same mission in Germany.

Magaret Curtis Shipp Roberts. Often know as "Grandma Roberts" or "Maggie Roberts". She was the daughter of Theodore Curtis. When she was young she married Milford Bard Shipp. She was the first female doctore in Utah. She and her sister wife, Ellis Shipp would take turns going to Medical school back east. Many of her children died when they were young and when she was away to medical school. Her daughter, Milfordetta "Detta" took care of her brothers and sisters. Maggie eventually divorced Milford Bard Shipp and married Brigham Henry Roberts, known as B.H. Roberts. She went on his mission to the Eastern States Mission while he was mission president. Her grandson, son of Milfordetta served his mission there. She died after Joesph William Neville Junior returned from his mission. She passed away in New York and her body was shipped back to Salt Lake City, where she is buried in the Salt Lake City Cemetary.
B. H. and Maggie Roberts
B.H. Roberts married Maggie when they were both old. They really enjoyed each others company. Joseph William Neville Junior considered him more of a grandfather than his own grandfather, Milford Bard Shipp. Joseph had a special relationship with him. B.H. was his mission president and gave him a lot of responsibility, which Joseph did well. Joseph loved and respected B.H. Roberts. He also treated his wife, Maggie, very well.
